Professional Contributions
After graduating from the University of Wisconsin in the winter of 1998, I took a one semester position at Fort Atkinson High School teaching English. This worked well because I had just completed a first semester internship/student teaching position there.
From there, I was excited to start my career. For seven years I taught English and Drama at Elkhorn Area High School where I developed and wrote the curriculum for the Drama class, and I helped contribute to creating a writing rubric for the department. In addition to my teaching assignments, I filled various roles as needed: JV softball coach, assistant forensics coach, and assistant director for several plays and musicals.
As my children neared school age, I made the choice to apply for a teaching position in the district that they would eventually attend, Waterford Union High School. I have taught any number of courses since joining the staff here in 2006: English 9, English 10, American Literature, Honors American Literature, Composition, Creative Writing, Drama, Multicultural Literature, and Critical Thinking. In addition to teaching, I am the head forensics coach. You can find more information about this program by clicking on the forensics tab above. I have contributed to the Diversity Committee, attended Diversity Circles, and currently serve on the CLC committee and Climate committee.
